Leader of the pack

Following the success of Triton Huntaway at last year’s Fieldays, Mitsubishi Motors NZ has unveiled a new leader of the pack. Built to go harder and without hesitation into the roughest backcountry ranges, Huntaway II is available in strictly limited numbers.

The bespoke breed will have a starring role at MMNZ’s Fieldays site this year, with only 20 locally built units available.

“With our custom-built Huntaway models, we’ve taken the highly specced Triton GLX-R 4WD double cab diesel auto to the next level – and then some,” said MMNZ Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs Reece Congdon. “Those looking for a Terminator of a truck equipped to tackle the toughest terrain should get their hands on one of these before they sell out.”

The special edition Huntaway II is designed to battle any elements thrown its way, with custom wheel guards, a hard lid and rail kit, rear protection bar, bull bar with LED DRLs, and a steel personalised bash guard – all designed to ensure a tough-as exterior.

Poised for action on Black 18” alloy wheels and shod with 33” all terrain tyres, the Huntaway II stands more than 80mm above a regular Triton thanks to 50mm suspension lift and aggressive tyres.

A robust snorkel makes river crossings an easy run, and with a 2.4L turbo diesel engine, packing a hefty 437Nm, it doesn’t want for pulling power either. Trailer Stability Assist and Electronic Brake Force Distribution help keep your load in line, while Mitsubishi All-Terrain Technology, which integrates nine different systems, ensures surefootedness on any surface.

And just because Huntaway II revels in the rough stuff outside, doesn’t mean it’s all tooth and nail on the inside – ergonomic seats, Smartphone Link Display Audio (SDA) with Apple Carplay and Android Auto and climate control ensure a comfortable and enjoyable ride.

Huntaway II is available in four colours – black, white, blue and titanium – at $69,990 plus On-Road Costs.

The Huntaway II will also be on display at site J30-34 this Fieldays.
